Thanks for considering Pro-Tint, Inc.
for your window tinting needs. We've been in the window film business
since 1985. And, in that time, have learned that window-tinting
applications are the subject of much confusion. In fact, people
have so many misconceptions about window tinting that we've decided
to offer this consumer information message so when you need to select
a window tinting company, you can make an informed, intelligent
decision.
Here are four costly misconceptions about having your windows tinted,
along with a few suggestions to help you save time. Also check out
our page with "6 Questions You
Should Ask Every Window Tinting Company" before you set
up an appointment.
Misconception #1: All window films are the same.
Just like everything else in the world, there are good products
and there are bad products. Window film can be divided up into two
categories: metalized films and dyed films. Metalized films have
a transparent layer of metal alloy in the film, giving it better
performance and preventing the color change associated with a window
film that is made with dyed colors. Dyed window films are simply
made with colors and will fade over a period of time. We’ve
learned that you get what you pay for. If you pay for a quality
film, you will get quality performance. If you cut corners and use
cheap film, you can expect poor results. Cheap films will likely
bubble, peel or crack over time. This is not going to happen if
a quality film is used.
Misconception #2: Your glass is shatter resistant.
If you are in an auto accident and your window breaks, the glass
will shatter into a million pieces. Glass will be thrown everywhere.
In your home, a storm or accident could break a window and leave
the glass covering the floor and leave your home exposed to the
weather. If your glass has window film, it won’t necessarily
prevent the glass from breaking; however it will keep the glass
intact reducing the risk of injury. Untreated glass could put you
and your family at great risk in the case of an accident.
Misconception # 3: Window tinting won’t keep burglars
from entering your home, auto, or business.
Wrong. Window film may not prevent unauthorized access into your
home, auto, or business 100% of the time, but it will decrease the
chances of a break-in from occurring. Glass that is tinted won’t
break like a pane of glass that is not coated. You can break an
untreated pane of glass with a hammer and it will crumble into a
million pieces. Treated glass will break but it won’t fall.
You must literally beat the entire frame of glass in before entering
the building. Most burglars don’t and won’t take the
time to break through the treated glass.
Misconception #4: Window tinting is mainly cosmetic.
While tinted glass is a very attractive look, there are many other
benefits to having tinted glass. We’ve already touched on
the safety features of window film and there are a variety of benefits
that also come with having your home, auto, or business glass tinted:
Benefits of using window film:
Window film gives you ultra violet ray protection.
This protects the materials in your home,
auto or business.
These rays are destroying your carpet, furniture, window coverings,
paintings, hardwood floors etc. Window tinting eliminates 99%
of the Ultra Violet rays and protects your belongings from premature
fading.
Window film reduces the amount of heat that enters through
the glass of your home, auto, or business.
This will reduce the money you spend on utility bills. The film
also adds a thermal layer that helps to keep the heat in during
winter months.
Window film reduces the glare that comes through untreated
glass.
This is very beneficial in your home,
auto
or business.
When driving, glare can cause accidents. It also helps when using
a computer or watching TV and it allows you to enjoy your windows
without having to cover them up.
